World Fellowship Group Spent Months Investigating Conditions in Europe Social and economic conditions in Europe aa they were found by the World Fellowship Group, which spent three and one-half months in Europe last summer, and the results of this group's investigations as to the caus es of the war and the attitude of the German people, were discussed by Dr. Walter Aitken, pastor of the St. Paul M. E. church of this city, who was a member of the Group, at the World Forum meeting at the Grand hotel Wednesday noon. The World Fellowship Group, of which Dr. Aitken was a member, was composed of university officials, so cial workers, ministers, and business men from all parts of the country. It was organized by Sherwood Eddy and Kirby Page, noted students of economic and social questions, to study European conditions. Members of the party heard speakers represent every point of view in the important European countries. In addition, many mem bers of the party made personal in vestigations of conditions among the common people. The conclusion that the German people as a whole should be freed from responsibility for the war and that every effort should be made to enable them to get back to normal conditions was reached by the group. Considerable time was spent inves tigating the stories of atrocities com mitted by German soldiers, which were current in this country during the war, and nearly all of them were found to be without foundation. Considerable time was spent at Geneva, Switzerland, the seat of the League of Nations, where the party studied the workings of the League. Several wars between some of the smaller European countries have been averted by the League. Recent success of medical science in combat ing typhus and other plagues in Europe is attributed to the co-operation brought about through the League. "While America is not officially represented in the League of Na tions, our influence is felt very strongly," Baid Dr. Aitken. Those in the party were unanimous in the belief that the United States must abandon her policy of isolation and take a leading part in world af fairs and co-operation of some kind.
