"As great as the Notre Dame game," slogan for the Missouri Val ley championship track meet at Lin coln May 24, is fast coming to reali sation as the entry lists record the names of some of the prmier track and field athletes in the country. The special half-mile run between Joie Ray, champion half miler of the United States, and Ray Watson, will be one of the added attractions that will make the classic meet an event long to be remembered in sport an nals of Nebraska. The 1924 Valley meet is the first conference championship meet that Nebraska will be host to. The new Husker track on stadium field will I be on of the fastest cinder paths in 'the west on the day of the meet, and Valley records can be expected to I topple if the weather is at all fav orable. " Everychool in the Valley confer ence has sent in entry lists for the championship meet. Oklahoma A. and M. has entered a complete team m-sn entered in every event. Tar kio college of Missouri has entered one man in the two-mile run. Other entries from non-conference schools are expected this coming week. Col leges in state 3 where Valley confer ence schools are located are eligible for ntry in the meet. The meet is of special importance this year on account of its rank as an accredited preliminary meet for the American Olympics tryouts. Win ners in the meet here on May 24 will be eligible for entry in the all-American tryouts at New York and Cam bridge. It will be the first opportunity that Nebraskans have ever had of seeing the Valleys finest performers on a Nebraska cinder path. The meet is being advertised throughout the state as widely as the Notre Dame and Syracuse football games of last fall, and many out-state people are expected to come to Lincoln for the meet. As an additional attraction for visitors there will be the military exhibition on ,the fair ground by United States troops, reserve offi cers, and local military organizations. He told of some of the junior-senior fights that used to be held and lead up to the Olympics which have now taken their place. McGlasson recalled some fights that took place while he was in high school and told of one 'in particular when many of the participants were thrown into Salt Creek near Epworth park.
