Three Orchestras to
Play at Farmers Fair
Three orchestras will play for
dances at the Farmers fair Saturday
afternoon and evening at the Ag Col
lege campus.. The Serenaders will
play in the afternoon at the pavilion,
the Nebraakans in the evening. The
Kandy Kids will furnish music at the
Engineering building. Dance tickets
will be 5 cents. .
EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITS
DISPLAYED AT AG FAIR
Work of Eighteen Departments
Will Be Shown in Large
Tent on Midway.
In order that the educational pur
pose of the Farmers fair may not be
overlooked, the large number of ex
hibits from the eighteen departments
will be grouped under a 70x110 foot
tent on the midway to make them
more accessible to the general public.
A few of the more fragile home econ
omics exhibits will he shown in the
home economics building just outside
of the midway.
The agricultural engineering de
partment will demonstrate how -a
small thirty-two volt electric plant
will run an electric fan, a curling
iron, flat iron, toaster, and a sweep
er. Other engineering projects will
give practical ideas on various farm
machinery and engineering problems.
Experiments which will show the
influence of direct sunlight on chicks
will be exhibited by '.the poultry de
partment. Kornhusker King, whose
fifty-one daughters have averaged
200.1 eggs in one year, will be shown.
Management and feeding methods
will be demonstrated by poultry men.
Show Dairy Products.
The dairy and animal husbandry
departments will have exhibits of live
animals and results of feeding and
management experiments. The dairy
exhibit will also contain an elaborate
showing of the many dairy products
which are made and used for food.
Agronomy, chemistry, entomology,
animal pathology, rural economic,
and horticulture departments will
have exhibits of interest to all, and
.will be fair samples of what the Ag
riculture College is accomplishing.
In the large exhibit tent, tests for
wool and silk will be shown by the
textile classes, as well as various com
mon stains and methods of removal.
The girls in home management are
exhibiting commercially carved fruits
and vegetables with comparative
costs and qualities. A group of wa
ter softeners and a display of china
are included in this exhibit.
Demonstrate Neighing.
On the first floor of the home ec
onomics building, demonstrations of
two time-saving meals will be given:
a baked meal, and a pressure cooker
meal. These will show how the mo
dern housewife may attend her
bridge party or tea and still have
dinner at six. The girls in the dietics
classes are showing an interesting
exhibit of meals that vary in cost, yet
satisfy the appetite and food require
ments. Demonstration of the weigh
ing and measuring of children will be
given by the child nutrition classes.
The renovation of old furniture
and furnishings is the keynote of the
exhibit in the reception room on the
second floor. With paint, cretonne,
and dye, the. girls have made old fur
niture look like new. Rugs have been
disguised with a magic stroke of a
dye brush. Drapes have lost that
'last year's look" after being in the
haifds of this industrious group.
