The Lancaster County Association
of the Reserve Officers will hear
series of talks on chemical warfare1
and ordinance, Wednesday evening
at the Grand hotel.
Chancellor Avery, formerly a
major in the Chemical Warfare (Serv
ice stationed at Washington, will give
some important information concern
ing the warfare serviea in relation to
other branches of service. Major L.
W. Chase, former professor of en
gineering at the University of Ne
braska, will speak on special work
of the ordinance department.
Prof. C. J. Frankforter, lieutenant
colonel of infantry of the-Officers
Reserve, and former officer in the
Chemical Warfare Service, will
speak on the manufacture of toxic
acid. Prof. Frankforter saw the
Edsrewood Arsenal grow from a
Maryland farm to a poison gas fac
tory that at the time of the armistic "
was making more poison gas daily
than England, France and Germany
combined.
A dinner at 6:30 will precede the
meeting which is open to the public
and all students or former officers

sities of Texas and Oklahoma will
decide the caging championship of
the southwest in a post-season game
if authorities of the two conferences,
of which the two schools are mem
bers, approve of the staging of the
contest. Tire Longhorn Steers issued
a challenge to the Sooner quintet
which was promptly accepted by Ben
G. Owen, mentor of Oklahoma, on
condition that the Missouri Valley
conference . give its consent to the
playing of the post-season game.
The Longhorns have just finished
an all-victorious season and not only
reign supreme in caging circles in
their own little -empire but also in
the southwestern conference. The
Sooners finished second in the Val
ley conference and hold the Okla
homa title by defeating Oklahoma
A. and M. in two games.
