How many of the gay young things at finishing school and at home know that most facial paint adornments they use today came into vogue thru some actress' whim? According to Emily Miles of "The Passing Show," at the Orpheum March 6 and 7 there was the full-face crimson tint with more red on the lower part of the face than the upper, brought into use by the late Lillian Russell. Theda Bara was the first to cover her eyelids with black or blue, and soon, all the girls were doing it. Miss Miles herself, who is a makeup authority, is credited with having set the flappers daubing one little round spot of rouge on each cheek, leav ing the rest of their faces as nature intended them. Trini, the dancer, brought in the leaden gray coloring, which allows no touch of color on the lips or eyes. Delysia brought over with her an other fad that of a plain . yellow makeup all over the face, with brilli ant red for the lips, a little shiny dot of red in the corners of the eyes and heavy pink over the finger nails. What will be next? A plain blue? Perhaps, burnt cork there is no telling. Special Matinee For Whiteside in The Hindu Due to the numerous requests for a presentation of the famous play "The Hindu" in which Walker White side appeared in this city last year, the Orpheum management has ar ranged a special matinee Monday, March 10, for this play. Tickets for this show are now on sale and they are going fast so reservations should be made at the earliest possible time. Prices for this special matinee will range from 50c to $2 plus tax.
