Though the showing was only fair, the Husker track men reminded the rest of the Valley schools that they were again out for the championship. The meet also proved that Missouri is going to make a strong bid for honors this season. One of the big features of the meet was the Nebraska-Missouri mile re lay race. It was a thriller from start o finish, with Missouri holding a scant two yard lead which the Hus ker 440-yard men were unable to overcome. Break 600 Yard Run Record The 600 yard run was the only event of the evening in which a record was broken. Hammerly of Ames defeated Pittinger, Missouri captain, in the fast time of 1:15.1, lowering the last mark four-fifths of a second. Locke. Nebraska sprinter, placed third in the 50-yard dash, although he had sprained his ankle in the pre liminary run. Will Lead Wrestlers Against Ames, Champions of Last Year. John Kellogg was elected captain of the 1924 Nebraska wrestling team yesterday afternoon. Kellogg was the unanimous choice of the members of the grappling team and is expected to pilot his squad of mat performers to the most successful season ever seen at the University. Kellogg, the only member of the squad this year who made a letter in the minor sport last season, upholds the Scarlet and Cream in the 125 pound division. Kellogg has defeated his opponent in every meet this season. Kellogg will lead his team into Iowa this week-end to meet the Ames matmen. Ames won the Valley wresst ling title last year after defeating Nebraska by a lone point margin and the Huskers are out for the Aggie scalp. February 23 the locals open the wrestling season here against Iowa state and plans for a large crowd of followers are being made, according to Coach R. G. Clapp. SOONERS WIN FROM MISSOURI CARMEN Jay hawkers String of Thirty- four Conference Victories Is Broken. they defeated Grinnell Monday.
