JAYHAWK FIVE DEFEATS
WASHINGTON 17 TO 16
Kansas Quintet Wins Thirty
fourth Consecutive Vic
tory on Home Floor.
The K. U. Basket ball team con
tinued as the peer of the valley by
winning their game with Washington
U. on the Lawrence court, 17 to 16
in a fast hard game. This makes a
string of thirty-four victories without
a defeat for the Jayhawks, which is
an enviable record for any college
team in the country.
During the '22 season the Kansans
won fifteen and lost one game tying
with Missouri for the Valley cham
pionship. Last year they were unde
feated, and they are still undefeated
strongest teams of the Valley.
Much of the Kansas success is
attributed to Coach " Thog " Allen,
who came here in 1920 and imme
diately initiated the coaching system
which has built for him this unbeat
able team. The Kansas team plays
a short passing and dribbling game,
and excels in team work.
