Witwer'a Famous Story -SHOWS START-AT 5, 7, 9 The Nebraska basketball, team leaves tonight for Columbia, Mo., where it plays the first game of a two-game series with Missouri Fri day night. The second game, with Washington University will be played in St. Louis Saturday night. The team has been home only two days since their return from the "trip of surprises." The squad will hold a practice in the Armory this after noon before embarking on the new adventure. Coach Kline is taking is usual ten men with him again. They are: Cap tain Usher, Cozier, Goodson, Voltz, Tipton, Black, Beerkle, Eckstrom, Wyant, R. Dewitz. The next game will be a return game with Grinnell in Lincoln Feb ruary 15. Track Tryouts Held Yesterday. The final track tryouts held yes terday afternoon were very good de spite the fact that the day was cold and windy. The team which is to go to the K. C. A. C. indoor meet will be picked by Coach Schulte sometime today. The meet will be held in Kansas City Saturday. Swimming Team Leave. The swimming team leaves this afternoon for a dual tank meet with Washington university at St. Louis, which takes place Friday night. Nine men will make the trip with Coach Frank Akdins. They are: ing, Shildneck, Campbell, Brainard, Captain F. Hunton, J. Hunton, Graeb Plate, Kirkbride, and Reed. Frank and Jack Hunton, Shildneck and Kirkbride will make up the relay team. Dan Reed will swim the back stroke with Brainard as running mate. Plate and Graebing are listed for the breast-stroke swim. Brain ard and Shildneck will do the diving stunts for Nebraska, and Campbell and Plate are entered for distance plunging. Jack and Frank Hunton will swim 50 yards free style, and Kirkbride and Campbell will attempt the 440 and 220 yard free style. The meet will be the first collegiate swimming meet for Nebraska this year, the squad having previously met the Omaha Athletic club. Last week Washington university beat Ames 46 to 22 in a dual tank meet. Washington has a pool as part of the physical training equipment. Wrestler Go to Kansas. Coach "Doc" Clapp and seven var sity wrestlers will leave this after noon for Lawrence where Nebraska matmen meet the Kansas Jayhawks in the second meet of the 1924 sea son. Two weeks ago the Huskers defeated Northwestern 13-7, winning five of seven matches and the same team will be pitted against the south erner? Friday in the initial Missouri Valley meet. Next week Nebraska meets Ames on foreign soil and on February 22 Iowa will take on the Huskers at the Armory in the first home meet. The team which will go against Kansas Friday will be among the best of any college in the west represented in the wrestling game, according to the Husker coach. Blore will uphold the local colors in the 115 pound group; Kellogg, veteran from last year, will be seen in action in the 125 division; Uhlir in the 135 pound class and Skinner in his weight, the 145 pound group. All four of the lighter artists won decisions against Northwestern. Thomas in the 158 and Robertson in the 175 groups will attempt to make up for their defeats two weeks ago while Hyley will again do the heavyweight grappling. Poems by Edwin Ford Piper Are Reissued A volume of poems, "Barbed Wire" and "Wayfarers," has just been re issued by the MacMillan Company. These poems were written by Edwin Ford Piper, a graduate of the Univer sity of Nebraska. He received his B. A. in 1897, and his M. A. in 1900. He was a professor of English in this university and then went to Iowa State where he is now a professor. Bureau of Soils Makes Inspection of Survey Frank A. Hayes of the United States bureau of soils, and the con servation division of the University spent Friday and Saturday in the final inspection of the survey made of Burt county last summer.
