The date for the swimming meet with Ames university to be held at Omaha has narrowed down to either February 1 or 15. One of these dates will be picked within the next few days. Nebraska will meet the Omaha Athletic club at the same time that they engage Ames, making the tank exhibition a triple meet in stead of the customary dual. The Omaha Athletic club has a number of swimmers of championship calibre who have placed in mid-western A. A. U. events in the past few years, and they have a good swim ming instructor in Pete Wendell. Ames has been advancing steadily in the equatic sport and is f ortun ate in having a university swimming pool. Coach Frank Adkins has outlined a program fcr the varsity swimmers to keep them in shape during the hol idays. The fellows who remain in Lincoln will take daily plunges in the "Y" pool. Those who go out of town will follow some setting up ex ercises to keep their muscles in shape. Tryouts for places on the swim ming team will be held previous to each meet and Coach Adkins is em phasising the fact that the men who make the team will be those who have earned their places. The back stroke and breaststroke events are rather weak with only one candidate out for each, but before the season is over Adkins expect to have some good men in these evnts.
