There were four men on the first team put out by Nebraska, and other teams met that year were the Omaha Athletic club, Kansas Aggies" and Ames. The sec ond and third years the squad was increased to five because of a larger turnout. This year there will be from six to ten on the team. Swimming is an important minor sport in all Big Ten colleges, as well as in all big eastern schools. In the B:g Ten circuit there are as many as fifteen men on the squad, with fifty or more candidates. The same is true of the eastern colleges and universities where aquatic sports rival football and basketball in popu larity. Since its organization three years ago the swimming sport has been growing in popularity. At present there are about sixty students "reg istered in the University swimming classes at the Y.M.C.A. The univer sity is handicapped greatly in this sport by the lack of a pool.
