Boelter of Drake Leads With
66 Points, Black, Kansas,
Is Second
Besides boasting a grid eleven at
the top of Missouri Valley conference,
football Nebraska pigskin followers
may also claim an individual back
field artist among the high three in
dividual point scorers in the Vihey
conference.
Dave Noble, the Cornhusker who
is today greatly responsible for the
defeat of the Irish last week, is now
tied for third place with Hendricks
of Oklahoma for third place in the
individual point scoring ledger of the
Valley with thirty points each. Noble
is responsiMo for thirty of the fifty
two counters scored by the Scarlet
and Cream machine this season, the
remaining points being scored by
Lewellen and the Dewitz brothers,
Herb and Rufus.
Boelter High Point Man
Boelter, the Drake athlete who was
seen in action on the basketball court
here last winter, leads the Valley line
plungers with a total of sixty-six
points. Drake also leads the Valley
combinations with the highest points
scored by a single eleven thus ac
counting for Boelter's feat.
Captain Black of the Kansas team
made enough points in the Washing
ton massacre last week to boost him
into second place with thirty-seven.
Providing Noble gets into action in
the remaining contests it is likely
that the lead of the Drake back will
be greatly narrowed down before the
Valley card has been completed.
Orebaugh Beit Kicker.
Orebaugh of Drake continues to
top the Valley with his toe work hav
ing successfully booted fourteen goals
after touchdowns thus far. Roberts
of Ames with eight, Black of Kansas
with seven and Hammart of Okla
homa with the same number follow
close behind.

first five places. The first will re
ceive a gold medal; second, a silver
model;. third, fourth and fifth places
will receive bronze medals.
A fee of 50c will bo required for
each entrant. Each runner -will be
given a physical examination before
the race, and the committee reserves
the right to reject an entry. Each
man entering must also be an ama
teur. Varsity and letter men may
run but cannot represent any organization.
Fees can be paid to Coach McMas-
ter at the Armory after 4 p. m. or to
John W. Fuhrer at the Y. M. C. A.
building. All entries must be in
before November 23, 6 p. m.
The Y.M.C.A. committee in charge

Harry Vahle, Earl Johnson and J.
Lloyd McMaster.

CROSS-COUNTRY RUN
Silver Trophy To Be Awarded
Winning Organization
Team.
The second annual cross-country
run of the Lincoln Y. M. C. A. will
be held Saturday, November 24, at
11:30 a. ra., on the Belmont short
course. The race will start at the
Y. M. C. A. and follow fourteenth
street over the short course and back
to the Y. M. C. A. It. will be three
miles in length.
Any organization may enter a team
of four men, three of whom are re
quired to finish, in order to qualify
for that organization. A silver tro
phy will be the award for the team
winning first.
Any individual may also " enter.

Coach Kline's Biggest Problem
Will Be To Find a Good
Center
Coach Kline is going to reduce
his squad of thirty candidates for
the basketball team this week to
workable number of fifteen or six
teen men. He had the men working
in groups of five yesterday to see
how they were at passing and basket
shooting.
Kline's chief worry at present is
to find a tall center or a good jump
ing center. Slim Warner, captain
of the team last year, was center, and
his graduation leaves vacant a place
that is hard to fill. Tipton, a letter
man, who played center some, will
probably concentrate on a guard po
sition this year.
The coach is waiting for several
football men to come out for bas
ketball after the season is over. The
squad will be strengthened consider
ably when they come out.
Orr Goodson, a varsity man from
last year who lacked only twenty
minutes of play to earn a letter, is
on the football team now, and will
join the squad after the season is
ovei-. Goodson was a star man on
Lincoln high five several years ago.
High School Start Are Out.
There is a host of high school .stars
among the candidates besides the four
letter men, Cozier, Tipton, Usher and
Volz and two varsity,men GoGodson
and Wyant. Leo Black, center on
Grand Island five two years ago, was
a terror among high school teams.
He is offering strong competition for
a berth on the varsity five. Beerkle
from Omaha Central is making a
strong bid for a forward position. In
high school Beerkle was noted for hi3
uncanny aim in shooting baskets.
Another Lincoln man is Olds, a guard.
Fred Ekstrom from Newman Grove
is another candidate for center po
sition. There are twenty-seven on the
squad now. They are: Letter men,
Usher, captain, Tipton, Cozier and
Volz; varsity men, Goodson, Wyant;
