Before the group dis banded Dr. Kent expressed a willing ness to visit the University at some future time to look over the ground and to offer any helpful suggestions possible to those interested in the movement. The deans and professors of the University of Nebraska present were interested to learn that plans had been worked out in some of the lead ing state universities of the country that promised to materialize in scholarly instruction in basic things on which genuine religious character can be built without offence to mem bers of any organized religion or to persons of no religious affiliations. The group of Nebraska men present resolved themselves into an informal committee to study the entire situa tion. Local conditions will be con sidered as well as the experience of such institutions as Michigan where under Dr. Kent's leadership a school of religion has been organized, Missouri whcro there is an affiliated Bible College, Texas where under different organization much fundi mental instruction is given, and numerous other large state universi ties of the country. The local chapter of the Amerl can Institute of Electrical ngineers was addressed Thursday morning by Dean Ferguson and Professor Edison Dean Ferguson explained the aims and ideals of the organization, stat ing that the present membership is more than 14,000. The Academy of Science and Let ters of Sioux City, la., has secured the services of four University of Nebraska professors for its pro gram this year. Dr. Barker lec tured on "Evolution, the Hope of the Race," this week. Professor Laura B. Pfeiffer of the History department will speak on "German-French Relations Since the Time of Charlemagne;" Professor Bengston will lecture on "Central America;" and Dr. Pool will give an illustrated lecture on "Life Among the High Peaks of the Rockies." The Academy at Sioux City and one at Iowa City are the only organ izations of this kind in the middle west. The subjects covered em brace every branch of science, and are open to the public.
