All the followers of the Nebraska's football team are fa miliar with the devastating effects of graduation and ineligibility on next year's team and on top of this, the coach will bo hindered by the lack of a suitable field for practise. The old athletic field will not be avail able because of the construction ol the stadium. Captain Verne Lewellen Is needed on the baseball squad, track, and with his football mates of next year. How "Dew" is to split up his time is a mystery. Other members of last year's foot ball team available lot next yeai are Bassett and nerquist, both ol whoit are working with the weights. Cod Hartman, trying for Hartley's place at fullback, is throwing the discus. Dave Noble 1s using his speed on the dashes. ;M.cAlister, Nixon, and Hubka of last year's squad , are all working on Coach Schulto's track aggregation. Of the freshmen who showed up well on the gridiron last fall, Meyers, Rhoades, and Locke are showing up on the cinders and field events. This leavfE Coach Dawson the two Dewitz brothers as his only old men to appear regularly for spring prac tise. In defence of athletics, Dr. Forest Allen director of athletics, said, "The principle of Inter-collegiate athletics is dead right. Inter-collegiate athletics are the natural and inevitable outgrowth of man's desire to play."
