U. Freshmen to Take on Ilualtor I'rcsu at the Time of the Game The Nebraska grid squad, headed by Coach Fred Dawson and his as sistants, will leave tonight at 10:30 or Lawrene, where the lluskers will work out on Friday, preparatory for the big game with the Jayhawk ag gregation the next day in the huge stadium whih has been recently com- pletoil. A bard fought contest, in which the odds slightly favor Nebraska is the prospect for Saturday's game with the Jayhawkers at Lawrence. Kansas is expected to make a supreme ef fort to dedicate her new stadium with a victory and to put a crimp in the Valley championship plans of the Huskers. Kansas will be able to present her strongest lineup with the exception of an injured guard, David son who will not be able to start the baf.le, while Dawson will pit his strongest team against the .Tayhawks, The disappointment to the Nebras ka coaches and players furnished by the Syracuse defeat is expected to act as a spar which will result in a more savage attack against the Kan snns than has been displyed by the Scarlet and Cream machine this sea son. Coach Dawson and his assistants have been driving the men hard this week in the scrimmage with the year linas. and new fire and fighting spirit is being developed by the Varsity. No Postseason Game. All chances for a post season game with Iowa or any other team were practically eliminated by the Syra cuse defeat, according to the latest word given out at the Athletic of fice. Dawson declares that Nebraska will have her hands full in complet ing the rest of her schedule without a defeat, and hat no post-season game will be considered now that the Husk ers lost to the Orange eleven. The Kansas team, which start ed the season auspiciously by holding the Army to a 13 to 0 score, and then slumped, losing to the Drake Dull dogs, and tying the Kansas Aggies. However, last week the Jayhawkers showed signs of coming back by do feating the Sooners 19 to 3. The Kansans took new Bpirit when they learned of tho outcome of the Syra cuse fray last Saturday, which showed that the Nebraska team was not un beatable, and they may be expected to fight tho Huskers to the last ditch on Saturday. It Nebraska viua fits remaining valley games, its title to the confer ence title may still be questioned by Drake University of Des Moines. The Bulldogs have not lost a game this soason, and has defeated three Valley schools, including Kansas. It is dis appointing to note that Nebraska will not meet tho Drako team, and the relative strength of the two teams will have to bo judged on the basis of comparative scores, which at their best are but a poor index of a team's strength. The playing of the yearling candi dates has taken on a noticeable im provement this week, as but the eighteen Frosh gridsters who make the best showing will be taken on the trip to the Kansas game. State Board Holds Examinations for Pharmacy Students Examinations for the certificate of Registered Pharmacist were held by the State Board of Pharmacy Exam iners Tuesday and Wednesday at Pharmacy hall. Eighteen men took the examinations and six men from other states were examined for cer-! tificates in the State of Nebraska. Results of the examinations will be announced within two weeks. The members of the board of examiners are C. P. Hildebrand of York, George Strelon of Long Pine, and Turner Haines of Omaha. HARRIERS ARE OFF FOR VALLEY MEET Nebraska Cross-Country Squad Leaves for St. Louis Today Husker harriers leave today for the Missouri Valley Conference meet to be held at St. Louis this coming Sat urday. The men representing the school are Capt. Bowman, Hyde, Hart man, Higgins, Haskell and Gardner. This is the same team that lost at tho Ames meet with tho exception of Bowman and Hyde who replace liogern and Cook. This meet will be of much interest as it determines the championship of the valley. The prospects, at the present time, look good for fine weather, and if the team runs under no handicaps a good showing is to be expected. Nebraska's success in this minor sport tins year has not been phenom enal. Three meets have been hold, and Nebraska has not achieved any special honors in any of them. "It's not because tho men we have are not good," said Coach McMasters, "but the fact that there are not more men out to give them competition, which would make them better." A committee has been appointed to form plnns for meeting tho visiting football teams at the station, with the idea of making them feel as much at home as possible and also of tak ing them in cars, to the various points of interest in tho city and on tho campus. Tho committee will see that tho remaining ' visiting teams, the Kansas Aggies, Ames, and Notre Dame are given tho best possible show of Nebraska spirit. Plans are under way to effect a nationalization of the various men's sophomore societies in the Missouri Valley schools. Correspondence with several schools has been started to get their opinion on the plan. Tho Sphinx are tryir.it to create a greater spirit of friendship between the different fraternities by the In terchanging of meals between mem bers. Schedulo of exchange will bo arranged and regular interchanges made. Discussion was also made on the advisability of establishing a new tra dition for the freshmen which would replace the green caps for something tho freshmen would be more eager to wear. The Sphinx added their approval to the suggested plan of freshmen girls wearing a green sash or other symbol of their class. This had been sug gested this year by tho Mystic Fish and Xi Delta societies hut no decision was made regarding it. The tradition will probably be established next year.
