(c) Public health and sanitation, which may include the hygiene of dependent or delinquent children or adults, or of school children, or of those engaged in the industries. Gamma Phi Beta Social Service Fellowship. The Gamma Fhi Beta Sorority of fers a Fellowship of five hundred dol lars available for the year of 1923 to be awarded by the Committee on Fellowships of the A, A. t W. This Fellowship shall be devoted to preparation for the profession of so cial service, and is open to women graduates of colleges of recognized rank, wh- have done at least one year of graduate work, includingsome courses in the department of social science. It is understood that the Fellow will devote herself entirely to pre paration for social service in a gradu ate school of recognized standing. Boston Alumnae Fellowship. The Boston Branch of the Ameri can Association of University Women aiiied by the Radcliffe Alumnae As sociation, the Boston Alumnae Clubs of Smith College, Brvn Mawr College, Vassar Col!e?e, Wellesley College. Boston University, Mount Holyoke College, and Tufts College offers a graduate fellowship of five hundred1 dollars.' for the purpose of stimulat ing scholarship among wocen. The hoMer of this Fellowship must be a graduate of an approved col lege, and must have good health, ex cellent character, bility, and initiative. The Fellowship may, however, at the discretion of the Committee of Award, be given to an applicant who submits reports of a limited amount of investigation, provided the work is? of high quality and shows exceptional rromise. Th award will be post poned unless the conditions are fully met. The Fellowship must be used in Europe or In America for one year i of constructive work, and not merely for the purpose of general culture. Applications for the fellowship should be made to the Chairman ot the Committee on Fellowships of the American Association of University Women, which is the Committee on Award. Inquiries may be addressed either to the Chairman of this Committee, or to Dean Mina Kerr, Wheaton Col lege, Norton, Mass. Rose Sidgwick Memorial Fellowship. This Fellowship of one thousand dollars has been established by Amer icans and the American Association of University Women in memory of Rose. Sidgwick. a member of the British Educational Mission which visited the United States in 191S, and in recognition of her services to the cause of Anglo-American friendship. The Fellowship is open to British women of graduate standing and is to be held for the purpose of gradu ate study in American college or universities. The award of this Fellowship will be made by a committee of the Brit ish Federation of University Women. The American Association of Uni versity Women offers a Fellowship; of the value of one thousand dollars to enable the holder to carry on ai year's research in some other country than her own during the academic year 1923-24. i Regulations. 1. The Felowship lb open to all members of Associations or Federa tions of University Women forming branches of the International Federa tion. ?2. The Fellowship will be awarded by the Committee on Fellowships of the American Association ct Univer sity Women, and the award will be mnounced about March 1. 1923. 3. The Fellowship will be tenable to any approved university or instltu tion In a country other than that in which the Fellow has received her previous education or habitually re sides. Candidates should ascertain In advance whether the university or In stitution In which they propose to carry on research can provide suit able facilities for their special sub ject 4. Applications should be sent In the first instance to the Secretary of the national Association or Fed eration of University Women to which the candidate belongs and should be forwarded by her to the Chairman of the Committee on Fellowships of the A. A. U. W., to reach her not later than February 1, 1923. Appli cations from the members of the American Association of University Women should be sent directly to the Chairman of the Committee on Fellowships. 5. Each candidate shall describe a scheme of research and must submit a dissertation or published work In addition to any other evidence which she may desire to offer of her fitness to undertake the proposed research. 6. The tenure of the Fellowship shall be from July 1. 1923, and the stipend shall be paid halfyearly in advance: provided that the Fellow has forwarded a statement before the second installment is paid, satisfy ing the Committee that she is pursu ing the research indicated In her ap plication. 7. At the end of her tenure the Fellow shall send a report of her work, together with a statement of its value from the rrofessor or other authority conversant with her re search, to the Chairman of the Com mittee on Fellowships of the A.
