On two separate occa sions aa indifferent exhibition of cheering and of encouraging the football team while at practice ha." been given. This weakness of spirit has been noticed. Coach Dawson, himself, on personal appeal, has not been able to arouse the students watching the practices, to real whole-hearted pup port. The team members have noticed it too, and it will be onl natural If they react to such spirit and let their own drop to the level of tho students. This is the challenge Cy Sherman of The Lincoln Daily Star throws down to you as a Nebraska student. "The Tuesday rooting practice by the etuents was even more of a fiz lze than the workout on dthe field. It is no assault on the verities to proclaim that the lack o student spirit was a disgrace to the Corn husker in.VJtullon. Another su:.h lamentable showing by the student body would Justify Coach Dawson in closing tho gates to all future prac tice workouts. Nebraska students who refuse to rehearse Nebraska jrellls deserve a football team tLat will lose every game on the sched ule ' This evening at the football rally la our first chance to accept the challenge. The spirit cf the school Is at stake and every etduent must attend the rally to convince the world that they are true Cornhus- kers. If you have splrl show it the whole year through. THE STUDENT COUNCIL. Rally Toniflht at 7:15 AT THE GAME Familiar to those who attend Uni versity athletic contests are the mem bers of the Women's Athletic associa tlon who sell good things to eat. On warm days, their baskets are filled with candy bars, peanuts and apples. Those who are cheering the hardest for the team find the apples particu larly well suited to quenching the thirst and softening parched throats. When the weather Is chilly the ven dors also offer quick, hot hamburgers to the hungry mob in the bleachers. The girls with their baskets wii: go through tha bleachers tomorr-w collecting dimes In return for food. They receive no money return for their work. All of the profits from the conces sion for selling at the athletic events go tr the treasury of the W. A- A. tha W. A. A. The Nebraska team is the superior of the South Dakota team as far as football is concerned. Put it taken something more than eleven f.io'ball players on the field to wiu a foot ball game. That "something more" is student spirit and loyalty to the team. That student spirit and loy alty, expressed by a full grandstand and continuous and whole-hearted cheerine. will win the game for Ne braska. Do you want Nebraska to win? O' course you do. Well, then, turn out and cheer tomorrow and Nebraska will win. Rally Toniflht at 7:15 NEBRASKA LOSSES Nebraska loses to the east In the resignation of Dr. W. Clyde Davis, dean of i!ie Dental Colleee. He goes from hre to Mllford. Delaware, to head a dental research Institute and post graduate school. Dean Davis has given of his best to the colleee anil to tne wncie ldi- versity. The colleee is. accoiding to Chancellor Avery, practically the creation of Dr. Davis. He has devel oped it into a colleee of which Ne br.i.ska is justly proud. As he resigns. Sail Toniflht at 7:15 EVERYBODY'S MAIL Dear Everybody: Have you all been to the Rialto Well, don't miss it. I'm not trying to advertise the picture, no Indeed just the coutrary. I really didn' fare for the feature at all. It roadt r.ie shed gallons of tears and I Jusi ruined my new pongee handkerchief. Oh, the acting was very wonderful but I do not like sad, weepy pic tures. The thing I think you should go for is the movie of the campus. Whv, it is perfectly clever, and 1 just puffed all up with pride when I saw my University in the movie I'm just positive that 1 caught a glimpse of Dollie Dipple, dashing be iore the camera, sportiug her ramp lsh "ear-links," and when they showed a picture of the Freshman barbecue, I know I saw Wilbur i'eterson standing right next to Chancellor Avery. I don't see how Wilbur gets a stand in, but I heard that he had charge of the buns and that Chancellor Avery Is fond of them. I guess that accounts for it. I couldn't quite recognize the per sons in front of the "Rag" office, lut I think several of the reporters were in evidence. Your picture might have been taken in the rush, so I suggest that you go lid h.e. Perhaps you photo graph cxtraor'i narily well and c;. aspire to become a Gloria Swansou or a Rodolf Valentino. Rally Tonight at 7:1& FABLES AS ART American and Russian accomplish ments in art are somewhat akin ac cording to "The Unsung Critic" who writes to the Philadelphia Evening Ledger as follows: Have you noticed Paul Terry's Aesop's Film FablesT I consider them very close to art, for they bring both novelty and imagination to the screen Just as the Chauve Souris is bringing them to the stage in New York." In commenting upon this thought. Henry M. Neely, movie editor of the paper says: "I hardly compare the Aesop's Fables of the screen to the Chauve Souris, but some of them are rather neat" If a critic admits the film fables are "neat" they must be very enter taining even If they don't quite rank with the Chauve Souris as art Rally Tonight at 7:15 In search of first-hand information about domestic animals, Paul Terry spent a recent week-end on a farm down In Monmouth connty, New Jer sey.
