Robert Craig,
Meeting the Situation.
The University continues to grow.
Rfcl-orts on enrollment bliow an in
crease this year. ClasBes in many
departments are unusually large.
The increased enrollment and -the
demands for certain instruction have
taxed the teaching force in some de
partments to the utmost. Instructors
are meeting the increase in the size
of their classes in the best way pos
sible. In cases where the classes were too
large for any satisfactory instruction
many adjustments were made. This
caused inconvenience for a number of
students. The student who wanted
all of his classes in the morning found
it difficult to accustom himself to a
class which cut into the middle of the
afternoon. But he was not as great
a disadvantage as the student who
found himself in a class for which the
enrollment was- too small to warrant
its continuance, when in another class
standing room was at a premium. The
small cliiss was disbanded and the
instructor put where he could do the
greatest good for the largest number
of students. It was hard for some
students who were thus left out to
readjust their registration. Tlioy
finally,-however, revised their sched
ules and accustomed themselves to
the new order. Then they were sur
prised to find that the new schedule
was entirely satisfactory.
Numerous instances could be
given of students who at first com
plained about their schedules, but
find now that they are satisfactory.
Even those who are still regretting
that they could not take just the
subjects wanted at the hours wanted
can console themselves with the
thought that they are a part of a
large system which must work so as
to benefit the largest number of students.

The Girls Tennis Tournament.
Every University girl who knows
anything about handling a tennis rac
quet will find it worth while to enter
the girls' tennis tournament. The
tennis tournament is under the direr
tion of the Women's Athletic associa
tion, which gives a chance for win
ning W. A. A. points. Entrants in
previous competitions have said that
they learn more about tennix while
playing in a tournament than in a
greater number of ordinary niatdies.
;!!rn' is a pleasure in such compel;
tion which is entirely lacking in the
usual match.
The weather is ideal for outdoor
sports. Juniors and seniors who are
not taking any required physical
training will find that the practice
games and the scheduled tournament
games will give them the outdoor
exorcise which they need. Every
player should sign up before noon to
day to enter the tournament and then
go out and enjoy the games.
