Charlea A. Mitchell ihE MESSAGE OF THE SULGKAVE DELEGATION The British delegation has Ion. AlthtjUfeh oniy here two days, ilu warnaii of inrtwiality and earnest ness ot purpivse vhich these Knglish men disjlajed, on the profound ad miraliou oi tit who met them. Com ing inio conui-t with these notables and heaving them talk, cannot fail to have a broadening and uplifting effect upon the ciiizens of an inland Mate such as Nebraska It is sid that we of the middle west are overly provinc ial. Whcthci or not this be true is not in poii.t, but from the very nature of our en vironment, wholesome as i'. is, we cannot possibly have as cosmopolitan an outlook on world affairs, s people who live closer to the national and international centers of action. Our British gnosis told us that Europe needs our help. We have re&d this often and heard it stated by Ameri cans, but whea we heard it directly from these gne.-ts, the message could not n.iss its ark. "If America and England would stand shoulder to shoulder and foot to foot, they could permanently as sure the peace of the world,' slated Sir Charles Wakefield, former lord mayor of London, Sunday morning ai St. rani's church. This sentiment properly expresses the spirit of the whole Sulgrave dele gation. They are here to promote Anglo - American friendship. We may not endorse everything that they say on this trip but it is becoming increasingly apparent each day that American problems cannot be di vorced from European problems. Sir Cb&rles said England needs our moral influence in the present Turkish crisis. He even went so far as to say that one of the greatest desires of the people of the world, is to have th voice and influence of America help settle the great post-war prob lems. Can we afford to ignore such a statement! Surely these Britishers value the "moral influence" of us right here in Lincoln and in the I'ni versity. else Ihey would not have concerned themselves with spending two days as our guests. THE WOMEN'S CONVOCATION Kreshmon women will be. the hou-. ores! members of the audience at the convocation for women which will be held at the Temple next Thursday morntr.fi under tlio nuspioes of Mor tarboard. J It will pay you to listen to this miisic ALL over the country the whistle is blowing for l the kick-off, the start of that great game another college year. He on your toes when the whistle blows. A good start will carry you well on toward your goat Let the football candidate start by working away till his muscles ache from bucking the line. Let the aspirant for manager lut in careful study of his team's needs, always eager to help arranging a trip or carrying a pail of water. Let the publications man be alert for news and tireless in learning the details of editorial work. Whatever activity you come out for, crowd a lot of energy into these early Fall days. And if a good start Le!ps win campus honors, it helps win class room honors, too. The sure way to be up in your work is to aim now for regularity at lectures, up-to-date note-books and particular attention to the early chapters of text-bocks, thus getting a grip on the basics. This is best in tbe long run, and selfishly it is easiest in the long run. That is, if life after college is made easier by the things a bigger income can buy.
