In the far end la a table on wnicn are rows and rows of bones in various stages of dryness. Those which have just been cleaned have an orange tinge; fise wnlph ft been eX" posed for a longer period to the Ne braska atmosphere are whitening. Skulls, shoulder blades, shins only those aren't the names they use for them over there all lying in the open air, surrounded by the odor of ancient embalmed flesh a cemetery with a difference. And through it all, the professors and the assistants who are making skeletons they enjoy the Job walk as unconcernedly as tennlB players tako their places on .the courts. U you are more interested in dry hones than In drying ones, you may bo ablo to prevail upon an obliging professor to show you the finished products. In an inner office, where the floor is cleaned enough to make walking safe is a "cooler" with a tempernture of perhaps l.r0 degrees. When the zinc door is opened, a glass casing is shown, behind which are rows of small bottles, each one labeled and each one containing the bones of an animal in some stage of its spiritual life. The youngest of these feather ed bipeds was only a day old at the time of the incarceration of its bones. And for every bottled skeleton, there lias been an autopsy and the percentages ' have been figurd of the comparative weights of the feathers, the lungs, the heart every available bit of information has been collected iind .collaborated with ievery other bit. To a scientist, too, all things are available. The work of an auto psy consumes perhaps eight . hours; the figuring takes an infinitely longer time.
