GAMMA LAMBDA ELECTS OFFICERS National Band Fraternity Officers Chosen For Next Semester Association of Collegiate Schools of Business Meets at Phil adelphia The collegiate schools of business in the United States are progressing verv ranidlv. according to Dean J. K. Lellossignol, who last week attended the annual meeting of the Associa-1 tion of Collegiate Schools of Business j held in Philadelphia. The colleges are everywhere growing in size and in j opportunities offered to the students. I Among the universities represented at 1 the meeting were Harvard, Columbia. Pennsylvania, Chicago. Wisconsin, New York, Tulane. California, South-,' i ern California, Indiana, :-yracuso, Pittsburgh, Texas, Nebraska. Iowa, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Boston anil Michigan. Thf discussions r.t the session cen tered about two chief problems: the curriculum and the study of the social sciences in secondary schools an.l their correlation with collegiate work. Move attention is paid now to the study cf economics, e.-pii U.ily. Iti is being introduced into secondary anrl primary schools by boards of educa tion in all parts of the country. The discussion of the curriculum was te most important topic of the meetings. There are three types of collegiate schools of business: those giving a four-year prescribed course, I such as Nebraska: those with a two year course, such as the University of Pittsburgh, which follows two years'; of work in the arts colleire; and grad-1 nate schools of business administra-j tion, such as Harvard. The two year course in most universities, however, is practically the same as the four-, year course, since the pro-business work is prescribed. The four-year! course includes, as does the work in j DR the University of Nebraska, a larce ! proportion of liberal arts subjects, j The consensus of opinion among lht T r. E. O. In ; schools where the tests are used, it ! is reported that the results conform closely to those of the regular ex- j aminations, with a few exceptions. There is Jit present a scarcity of , welltraincd teachers of economies and business administration. Colleges of! business, it was agreed by the asso j elation, should make it one of their functions to train teachers in these subjects for colleges and secondary '. schools. j The members of the association v.ei-e t'liesfs in Philadelphia of Hie University of Pennsylvania.
