years. In 1892, when thie General
was military instructor at the Uni
versity of Nebraska, he organized a
troop of forty or fifty cadets, who
drilled once a week for fun. it was
not unusual to (find lieutenants and
captains in the regular cadet corps,
shouldering rifles and acting as pri
vates in the prize troop.
General Pershing introduced the an
nual encampment of cadet corps at
the University of Nebraska. During
Pershing's term at tno University of
Nebraska, his company was recog
nized as the best in the country. The
university received a set of pictures
from West Point witti ilto following
remarks: "From the best cadet coips
in the United States, to the second
best." f
University of Iowa Iowa University
organization heads have placed a strict
boycott on ice cream dispensaries,
movie shows, dances and all work
commonly done by -tonroslal artists.
It is hoped by this means to bring
down the exhorbltant prices.
University of Washington Train
ing rules, with a close observance
of sleep and diet, went Into force
this week at the University of Wash
ington crew house, where the oars
men live. Nearly three months wll
be required for the men to condition
for the California race.
Ohio University Fifteen students
were suspended recently at Ohio state
for cheating in exams. Students
there are no longer heard to brag
about their prowess at cribbing and
getting away with it.

of Delian literary society vete en
tertained at their fourth, annual ban
quet, Saturday evening at the Lin
colnshire club rooms. Mary Ellen
Inglis as toastmastress called for the
following responses: Fellowship, Ar
riold Stenikraus: friendship, Robert
Inglis: courtship, George Darlii'gton;
to the crew, Ruby Wolfenden; to the
voyage, Margaret Osborne; to the voy

toasts. Several songs were given uy
the Delian quartette. Buttonhole bou
quets for the men and corsages for
the ladies were given as favors.
