DEVIL'S ADVOCATE TO
APPEAR AT VESPERS
A novel vesper . service has been
planned for next Tuesday at Kllen
Smith hall. It will take the form oi
a mock debate between the Devil's
Advocate and the advocate - for the
defense. The discussion will Involve
the social ideals and the stand which
the Y. W. C. A. takes In regard to
Industrial problems. This question
will probably come up at the national
Y. W. C. A. Convention at Hot
Springs, Arkansas, in April and this
will be a means to ascertain the way
in" which the Nebraska girls with their
delegate to vote.
Florence Sherman will be the ad
vocate for the defense and Dorothy
Williams will be the Devil's Advo
cate. Jeanette Cok will have charge
of Vespers and will entef Into the
discussion. There will be special
music. ,
Some of the points of attack will
be the eight hour day, labor unions,
collective bargaining, child labor and
minimum wage. Many people have at
tacked the Y. W. C A. for Its 3tand
upon these industrial problems. For
that reason it is necessary for the
girls to have a clear knowledge of
these facts and to make a definite
(statement (of the standards which
they wish to uphold".
