freshman men and women of Penn
sylvania State college during the first
week of each semester.
. This Innovation has been Intro
duced not only because of Its ad
vantage In acquainting freshimu with
each other but also becaus" ft will
aid the upperclassmen students in
knowing the newcomers.
The decision to introduce chis cus
tom was made by the student coun
cil which expects to add It to the
list of campus traditions.

and mechanical college of Texas at
College Station. Texas, visited friends
and the engineering faculty, and also

paper on the subject of "Safety and
Beauty .as Factors in the Desiign and
Layout of Highways." He also attend
ed the dinner given by the chamber of
commerce Wednesday evening to all
federal highway engineers and the en
gineers of the Nebraska department
of public works.
While in Omaha Professor Mickey
met Chas. Percell, C. E., '06, who is
now district engineer in the U. S.
Bureau of Public Rads stationed at
Portland, Ore. Also Col. L. Bow-
lby, C. E., '05, who Is now senior high
way engineer, bureau of public roads,
Washington, DC, and has charge of
obtaining military equipment from the
war department to be used by the
State highway departments.
