There's another well balanced bill
ut the Orpheum this week. U Is the
best bulanced bill there this season
because it offers nearly every differ
ent kind of vaudeville that is usually
popularly received.
George and May LaFevre proaent
a nicely staged and cleverly offered
dancing act. They are fine dancers.
The girl violinist, Miss Bellvean
wi;s entirely enjoyable. She has a
pleasing appearance and plays the
violin much better than the average
vaudeville urtist. Her program was
well selected. Harry J. Conley in his
rural travesty "Rice and Old Shoes,"
was a Big hit. His comedy Is clean
and original and the Betting vas par
ticularly clever. Bob La Salle's of
fering while pleasing and the material
new was not as well received as he
should have beon.
Probably the most interesting act
of the bill was Carlyle Blackwell,
the well-known movie star in "Eight,
Six and Four" by Mark Swan. A.
movie star is always a big attraction
and tlieir biggest success would b'j
to deserve the attention on their owa
merits and not because ol' their movie
fame. Mr. Biackwell is a good actor
on the speaking stage as well as in
the films. His appearance is excel
lent.
Mel Klee went over big in his first
class blackface act. No smut -and a
good line of talk besides a good sing
tion to get the most out of his act
were the reasons for his big hand.
The Gellis brothers are evidently a
French importation. Their act would
be much better if they stuck to their
line which is very apparently tumbl
ing, and did not try to sing and
dance. They should go big without
the attempt.
