THE DAILY NEBRASKAN SPORT BRIEFS All Interest In spoi l a Is now ccn tercd on the world'8 series. Tho first frame botween the New York Yankees and the New York Giants for the championship of the world will be played toduy. Only one thing can be safely prophesied: the titular flag will go to a New York team. Monte Munn and "Terrible" Thomp son will not play with the Scarlet and Creen during this season. This is a decided setback for Dawson"s pros pects. Munn's predicament is due to an infected practice wound while Thompson is ineligible on account of scholarship difficulties. Interest in high school gridiron games is this week centering on the Clay Center-Cambridge clash. This is the first inter-sectional clash of the year and should be a good game from whistle to whistle. Tho Ansley-Al-liance fray will be another hummer while Lincoln high will undouubtedly have her hands full with York. The Haskell Indians are the next opponents on Dawson's chart. If the Indians have any such team as they had in the old days, tho Huskers are duo for a stiff game. The strength of tho old Redskin team is well known by local gridiron fans and many are prophesying that the Nebraska Haskell scrap will be a thriller. Tho fact that Pittsburgh met defeat last Saturday does not at all mean that she has a weak team. Flukes are by no means uncommon in football and Pittsburgh has a strong team in spite of their early setback. The Huskers will have their hands full when they encounter the Panthers in Pittsburgh on November 5. COLLEGE HAS TWO NEW PROFESSORS Professor F. E. For back of it is the General Electric Company's main office building, accom modating 2300 employees. And just next door is its main laboratory with the best equipment for testing, standardiz ing and research at the command of ca pable engineers. Then down the street a mile long are other buildings where electrical products are made by the thousands of electrical workers who daily stream through. Through this gate messages and repre sentatives from a score of other factories and over fifty branch offices como end go every hour an endless chain of co ordinated activities carrying on and en larging the scope of over a quarter cen tury's work for the betterment of mankind. What a story this gate would tell, if it could, of the leaders of the electrical in dustry and of ambassadors from other industries and institutions and from foreign lands. The story would be the history of electric lighting, electric transportation, electrified industrials and electricity in the home., en raHiiiJiiectriic General Office Co imp any sj.n, I.Y.
