Colored electric lights were stiung over the yard as accorations, ami most of the party took place on the lawn. A roulette wheel and all the regular carnival amusements were provided. Dorothy Woodard gave a dance and Miss Margaret Perry sang. Refreshments were served in the house, where flowers formed the deco rative scheme. A rose dinner was given Thursday evening by Pi Beta Phi at the home cf Mrs. L. A. Stuart, 1906 D street, as one of their series of rushing par lies, me lauie in uie uining roo-ii i seated sixteen guests, and places were arranged for the rest of the eighty at smaller tables scattered about the house. Each table was decorated with Columbia roses and ferns and pink candles in crystal holders. The can dle Bhades and place cards were rose covered. The active chapter of the sorority had charge of the entertain ment during the evening. "Romance" was the party given by Alpha Phi at the home of Mrs. Ed ward Dierks Thursday evening. The favors were little cotton balls, brought from the south by Mary Sheldon, one of the sorority members. Between fifty and sixty girls attended the party. "The Merry-Go-Round." a dinner dance with the carnival Idea, was given by Achoth sorority at the homo of Miss Cladys Beaumont Thursday evening. Decorations thruout the house were in orpnge and black. On the tables, crepe paper clusters formed the centerpieces, and the little dolls, given as favors were hidden in them. Gaeckler in Stromsburg Tues day at 1 o'clock when Miss Maude Hazel Gaeckler, formerly of mcoln, became the bride of Henry M. Cook, of Belton, Tex. Rev. E. S. Branch of ficiated, using the double ring service, Mrs. Cook is a graduate of the Univer sity of Nebraska where she took her A. B. and Master's degrees. She at tended Yale university where she took her Ph. D. degree, her thesis be ing written in Sanskrit. E. Con dra, director, has ust completed the publication of a soil survey of Sheri dan county. The survey was conduct ed by Louis A. olfanger, of the United States department of agriculture and H. L. Bodell, L. Britton, S. G. H. Tay lor, and F. M. Deutsch of the Nebras ka soil survey. The report contains 60 pages and 2 large colored maps and includes a description of the area climate, agriculture and soils.- Sheri dan county, Nebraska lies in the northwestern part of the state joining South Dakota. It is 69 miles north and south, and 36 miles east and west, and has an area of 2,433 square miles. Mr. Harold Moritz of Seattle, Wash., will take the place of Miss Hariett Wyman as instructor in mechanical drawing. Miss Wyman has gone into the mssionary field. Mr. Moritz was a student at the University of Wash ington for three years, and then went to !the Massachusettes institute of Technology for two years and pradu ated in mechanical engineering.
