The University library owns n spe cial library gathered by Prof. W. U. Xewbold of the University or Pennsyl vania who will speak before Phi Hota Kappa and Sigma XI Friday nnd Saturday. This is a collection of phil osophical classics numbering about ISO volumes. It Is largely the first or early editions and includes works of Aristotle. Pruno. Descartes. Hobbes and others. A first edition of Her bert Spencer's "First Principles" con tains a letter signed by Spencer on the inside cover. One book was printed by Benjamin Franklin in 17a2 and on the inside cover has the name R. Saunders writ ten in eighteenth century hand. Richard Saunders was the name as sumed by Franklin in Poor Richard's Almanac. There is a first edition of Descartes-Meditations which is a very tare book not owned by the British Museum or the Library of Congress.
