Sincerely yours, CARL C. ENCBERC. Law. "If you know a man and he is a good man, you win like turn, it you line mm and secure his friendship, you have created a new and valuable asset for both. Omaha needs the University and the University needs the metropolis. No Omaha office should look elsewhere than to the graduates of this school for its new blood. No graduate should overlook the opportunities of Omaha. A strong school should get acquainted with a vigorous city. Omaha day is the time to lay the foundations of a better mutual understanding and ap- i preciation. It is an investment in the I future which we can not afford to j i.eglect." WARREN A. SEAVEY. j Engineers. "Omaha day offers the . University j fctudent an opportunity not given by cny other day of the year. Our met ropolis opens its doors to us, invites us in and liberally provides for our enter tainment. And the city is not narrowly limite in its material from which to make a program. Even a glance at the list of trips planned gives one a new appreciation of the occasion and teh efforts of those who have de veloped it. I'Engineers will have some difficulty in making their choice from among the various possibilities. Let me empha size that there are both engineering and non-engineering places to be visited. The broad-minded engineer is j very much Interested in many things which do not pertain to his own daily v, ork. Why not take advantage of this chance to visit something of this kind? j Human activities and human produc- j tion are represented by all the fields I open. An euglneer is interested in what men do, in what men think, and in what men are. My advice is that ou go to Omaha on Omaha day, and that you oin a group whose trip will take you into new surroundings and give you new things to think about and to evaluate." O. J. FERGUSON. Business Administration. "Let us have another Omaha day by all means. I am sure that all the instructors and students who wer-j there on previous occasions, have grateful memories of Omaha's hospi tality. I like to think of the joyous reception we have always had. Tho fine picnic luncheon at the auditorium the first t"ime we went, and the excel lent luncheon at the stock yards on the second occasion, when we had many good things to eat, including some incomparably tender Juicy roast beef, are notable events in my life. "Students of the College of llusinosb Administration, of course, will be in terested in something more than lunch eons, suppers, and dances, as they will be eager to improve their minds by looking into the various phases of in dustrial and commercial life in the business capital of Nebraska. They should really spend a week in Omaha, but in a single day, under competent direction, they can see and learn a great deal." DEAN LeROSSIGNOL. Arts and Sciences. "Omaha day has become a tradition in this University. And the tradition is a worthy one, not only as it offers the opportunit to the student to study the Institutions and life of the state metropolis, but also as it enables the people of Omaha to become acquainted with the University. "There are many reasons why the trip should be of interest to the stu dents in the College of Arts and Sciences. There are smelters and packing houses for the more strenuous. . "Omaha day has come to be re jgarded as almost a part of the course in an educational way. I "If the trip is to be taken wholly ad the men have points toward winning theirs. The ticket sale for trrfi track sea son Is not going like Coach Schult. weekly had planned and he le very much dis 'appointed In the outcome. In an In terview yesterday Omen Schulte, wa.s very free in expressing hln U'mn- about the matter. "If Nebraska va to have a real track team and to havh outside competition that thu track squad here merits the school as whole will have to get back of tin: team and push. We have one ol th greatest track squads in the cou;i try and If we are to be known we will have to participate In the Penn games and some of the other bi meets of the year. We cannot do this if the student body will not support us. I have placed on sale two thou sand season tickets for one dollar apiece and If a student body of four thousand or more students cannot buy up this small number at such a low price, I feel there is something wrong somewhere." This was the manner in self yeeterday. There are also magnificent private dental offices in Omaha which are of interest to all piospectlve dental practitioners." W. CLYDE DAVIS. Agriculture. "Omaha day will give an opportunity for students of the Agricultural Col lege to visit a number of notable agri cultural industries located in Omaha. Among these are the stockyards and iucking industry, the creamery indus try, the grain exchange, the alfalfi j mil's, and the agricultural implement houses. It would be difficult to find I in any leading city in the United Sta'es lines. The city or Omaha Is Justly better developed industries along these proud of its commercial development and offers this opportunity for students to secure detailed information along any of the lines In which they may be specially interested." E. A. BURNETT. Pharmacy. "I strongly urge all students In the College of Pharmacy to make the trip to Omaha on May 6th. Places of spe cial interest to students of Pharmacy are the glandular extract department of Armour & Co., the soap and glycerine factory of Cudahy & Co., the manufacturing department ' of the House of Retiring, the wholesale drug i houses and the compounding depart Jnients of the Sherman & McConnell j retail stores. In addition there are j many other educational features of I.Mich a trip that are well worth while the time and money invetsed. The pro medics will be entertained the greater part of the day In the Uni versity Hospital and the College of Medicine. No pre medic can afford to ir. Iss this trip." R. A. LYMAN. Dean.
