STUDENT COUNCIL
WANTS TO REMAIN
(Continued from Page One.)
cxeii more Intangible than the others
'The Student Council would, If it
should function, pupplant the tradi
tlonal committees, orcanizntlons and
societies, which have been a part,
some for t ho jiast thirty years of
University tradition and life.' Specific
ally, what Committees, organizations
and societies' is the Stmkin' Council
to supplant? Ilow are they to sup
plant them? Moreover, the fact that
any organization has exls'ed for
thirty years does not moan. Ipso
I'aoto, tht It ! a democrat le Rtvl
efficient organization.
The fourthartiele of the petition
contradicts the rest of the document.
The first three articles say in effect
to abolish the Student Council be
cause it threatens the government of
the faculty and present school oreani
?atiens (which organizations are not
specified). The fourth article says,
in 'effect abolish the Student Council
because it lias not yet done any of
these threatenin? things.
These four articles are the only rea-j
sons to abolish the Student t ounc;l.
that h.ie thus Tar btiii put forward.
They are vague, general, self-contradictory
statements, not founded
upon facts. Are we to abolish the
Student Council, the only wholly
representative, organization In school,
for a few high sounding misrepre
sentations? We, the members of the
Student Council say, 'No.!'"
At the mass meeting of March 1.
It was voted to hold an election so
that the students might express their
opinion on whether oviiot the Student
Council should be abolished. At the
meeting of the Student Council last
Friday it was decided to bold the
election Tuesday, March 15.

CLEAN BEFORE STORING
OVER SEASON
If we gave our clothes
half the thought at the
end of the season that
they get at the beginning
they would greet us with
a smile instead of a wrink
led and worn look. If you
expect to wear those suits
next fall, let us clean them
;i'
now.
