BASKETBALL RALLY TO BE
HELD FRIDAY MORNING
Opening of the 1921 Cage Season To
Be Celebrated at Convocation. '
The opening of the Cornhuskcr 1921
basketball season will bo celebratcci
Friday morning at eleven o'clock at a
short, snappy rally to be held in the
Armory. The home schedule wi'l
commence in the evening, when the
Husker quintet will be opposed by
the team from Grinnell at the State
Fair Coliseum. A large crowd is ex
pected at the rally to welcome the
home team which has recently re
turned from an Eastern-trip, and which
has not been sen in action here at
Lincoln this season.
The rally will be in charge of the
Innocents. The University band has
been secured and will be present to
help make the meeting as peppy as
possible. Captain Bailey is slated to
make his first speech of the season
and Coach Schlssler will ask the stu
dents for their support. Dr. F. W.
Luehring, director of Athletics will
say a few words about the new basket
ball court which is being opened at
the State Fair grounds and which i3
said to be the best and largest in the
state.
Several other features of the pro
gram have not been announced as
yet but the committee in charge is
working to make thi3 the largest rally
of the year. The program in all will
not take more than half an hour,
is the promise of those in charge.
Students will not need to fear missing
their lunches by coming to the rally.
Freshman Hop Postponed.
Because the Freshman Hop, which
had been scheduled for Friday eve
ning at. the Coliseum, conflicted with
'he first basketball game of the sea
son and the dance which followed
afterward, the first-year class mixer
has been postponed for two weeks.
"Dangerous Business" First National
I went because it was Constance
Tnli'iadge. The name was "Danger
ous Business" and I didn't go on ac
count of the title anyway. Lately,
'(instance's pictures have had a tend
ency to be too frothy too frivolous
too light and airy. They give the
young star too much of an opportunity
to pope and not .enough to really act
(or reely act, for that matter).
1 suspect that this picture was
limed alter the diminutive star's re
turn from abroad. In the entire pic
ture she exploits new wonder-frocks
dainty frocks and some frocks not so
iliiinty.
For those who like plays witli a
hero that at times appears more-like
a viliian, this play will be interesting
ind just what they want. As a lesson
for too frivolous girls this play is a
good sermon without the preaching.
But don't forget that a Buster
Kenton comedy was the best part of
the program! He gets the celluloid
lowder puff for clever comedies.

IMPLIED RESTRICTONS
IN STUDENT RESOLUTIONS
"Students cannot attend places of
amusement which hire orchestras
that are playing for prices higher
than orchestra prices set by the stu
dent committee at the beginning of
the boycott (although the price of
such dance halls complies with the
'reasonable price list if they expect
to live up to the bargain they have
made," declared University authorities
Wednesday.
"When these halls employ orches
tras that pay the stipulated price of
J7 per man, with two dollars extra
Tor leader, students may attend these
dances with a clear conscience," they
added.

The recommendations for appropri
ations made to the legislature by the
governor require a majority vote in
both houses. If the requests had not
been approved by the governor a
three-fifths vote in both houses would
be required to pass them. Thus 51
affirmative votes in the House of
Representatives and 17 in the Senate
are all that are needed to pass the
bill introducing these recommenda
tions, while, If the requests had been
made by the Board of Regents and
not approved by the governor, 20
senators and 60 representatives would
have to vote for the appropriations In
order that they bo granted.
