Every knock's a boost the adage goes, but the University or
Nebraska Is not cut after that kind of advertising.
Why not see how much you can do in a day rather than seeing
how you can "put in the day."
Again take heart and cheer up. "Anything" says the fashion
page "that looks quaint and old-fashioned will be in style." So you
see you will not have any trouble at all about getting by with your
last winter's clothes.
GOAL SET AT 5,000.
Students, buy your football season tickets today and then go to
the Student Activities office and offer your services as solicitors in
this week's football campaign.
The Athletic Department has set the goal at 5,000 tickets. And
it is up to every lcyal Husker to be on the job Instilling pep and
ginger into the campaign and never letting up until the standard has
been reached.
Each Nebraskan saves seven dollars when he purchases a season
ticket, besides receiving the best seats in the grandstand. The men
and women will each have their separate sections as has been the
custom at Nebraska for a number of years.
Every Cornhusker would like to see (he band accompany the foot
ball team on their eastern pilgrimage. They should go and each and
every one of us can do our bit towards accomplishing this end by
pushing the campaign over the goal to a great victory.
DEATH KNELL SOUNDED.
High school fraternities have written their last chapter at Ne
braska, as far as University fraternities are concerned. Last spring
the Inter-Fraternity Council decided to enforce the state law which
prohibits the pledging of high school frat men to University fra
ternities. And this fall the University Greeks have refused to pledge
a single man, unless the secret organization to which he belongs has
surrendered their charter. Each pledge also agreed to do all in his
power to see that his high school fraternity was not reorganized.
O. J. Fee, Gene Holland and Professor Scott, as chairman of the
Inter-Fraternity Council, have carried on an extensive investigation
of all the new pledges and have traced down practically every secret
high school organization in the state. Eight Lincoln high school fra
ternities have surrendered their charters together with their complete
list of membership. The above named committee has given their
word of honor to the University authorities that this year's pledges
have relinquished their previous fraternity affiliations. If it is found
later that some of these men have not come through clean, It will be
the duty of the Council to not only break the individual's pledge, but
also to penalize the University frat to which he has been connected.
The stand taken by the Inter Fraternity Council clearly shows
that any student initiated into high school fraternities from now on
will be forever ostracized from the University fraternities of Nebraska.
