BARRISTERS FEAST
ON ROAST PORKERS
Lawyers-to-be Hold Parade and
Enjoy Holiday at Annual
Barbecue.
Tuesday was a gala day for the
embryo lawyers at the University or
Nebraska. It was declared a holiday
for students in that college and pro
fessors were on hand to enjoy fes
tivities with the students. The annual
day of fun started off with a shout
ing, cheering parade at 8:30, which
advanced on the campus north of the
engineering laboratories and chal
lenged the workers in the shops to at
tention. They appeared at the win
dows and showed no signs of unrest
or of disapproval.
About one hundred Law students
took part in the parade,
proniptu band played such
tunes as "They'll Be No
There," "Cheer, Cheer, the Gang's
All Here," and "Scarlet and the
Cream." The line of march included
the streets bordering on the campus,
O street to Fifteenth street, and up
Q street to the Law College. Behind
the band a cart drawn by two mules
carried E. Bailey Morcom, attired in
a wig and black robe. He stood "for

justice now and forever."
A special car had been chartered
from the Lincoln Traction Company,
and it carried the boistrous merry
makers to Kpworth Park. In a hot
and snappy baseball game between
the Freshmen Laws and a team com
posed of both Juniors and Seniors, the
underclassmen trounced the over-confident
older men 10-5. A real big
league brand of ball was played, al
though a cow pasture took the place
of a diamond, and pieces of broken
fence served as bases. I'.eavls and
Schroeder hurled for the upperclass-
men, and Koehler received. Schoep
pel and M. R. Smith were in the box
for the Freshmen and Thomsen re
ceiveu. At twelve o'clock the motley crowd
found its way to a deserted cabin,
where food in large quantities awaited
them. After several games of "leap
frog" a "bread-line" was formed and
men received their poon ritions
puff nd once again and some of
them a third time.
Dean W. O. Hastings and Judge
Grant Martin were on the toast list,
and gave splendid after dinner talks
to the assembled barristers.
The barbecue ended with the Fresh
man Law Hop in the evening at the
Lincoln Hotel ball room. About tinety
couples attended, and the party was
a fitting climax to a real holiday.
