Parties are being organized in the conservation and soil survey depart ment of the University to co-operate with the United States bureau of soils in the survey of six counties during the coming spring, summer and fall. The six counties to be surveyed are Deuel, Garden, Madison, Howard, Johnson and Pawnee. Mr. Frank Hayes will be the leader of this work in Madison and Howard counties, while Mr. L. A. Wolfanger will have charge in Garden and Deuel counties. Messrs. Goeke, Iliddell and Paine are to be in the survey work but their leaders have not yet been chosen. This work is under the supervision of Dr. Condra of the Uni versity. The department is to employ six or eight men for survey and it hopes to secure good men from Ne braska trained in soils and survey work but it may find it necessary to take some of the people who have ap plied from universities from other states. Persons qualified to do this kind of work should consult with Dr. Condra. The conservation and soil survey department has issued a bulletin on the soil resources of the state. These bulletins may be obtained from this department. NEBRASKA ENGINEERING BUILDING BEST IN WORLD The University of Nebraska is one or the leading institutions in the study and investigation of the application of engineering to agriculture, or in the development of farm mathineiy, ac cording to eminent engineers and educators "uihered at the recent dedi cation of the new agricultural en gineering building at the Slate Col lege of Agriculture. The new build ing with Us equipment cost about $2.10.000, and If It were to be built now it would cost fully twice that amount. Distinguished engineers at the dedication said it was the finest building of It. -I kind in the world and the best equipped for instructional work and investigation in the subject of power farming. The agricultural engineering department is now one of the strongest departments of the Uni versity. There were nearly 1,000 registrations in this department for the school year just closing. George Erickson, of the Gamma Tau chanter of Alpha Tau Omeja at Wis consin, is a guest at the Alpha Tau Omega house. Joe Dougherty. ex-'21. who has been visiting at the Phi Gamma Delia house for the past week, returned Omaha this morning. Lois Haughey, ex-'23, of Aurora a guest at the Alpha Phi house. Myron Vanhorn, '22, is going to Pawnee where he will visit his parents. Ben Dennis, '23, has gone to Hold ridge on a business trip. Arthur Bails, of Omaha, is a guest at the Sigma Phi Epsilon house. Ohio, where she had been attending the national Y. W. C. A. convention, lasting from April 13 to 20, as the official delegate from the University Y. W. C. A. Altogether there were about two thousand dele gates present from throughout the country including four hundred stu dents from every state in the country.
