STATE EDITORS
CLOSE SESSION
(Continued from page 1)
the city papers where they expect to
gain advancement in a comparatively
short time. He said many students
graduating from his department were
afraid to venture into the country
field because of the capital required
and of the unattractiveness of the
small town newspaper to the college
trained young man seeking a location.
Prof. Fogg asked for the co-operation
of the editors in extending and en
larging journalism courses at the uni
versity. Dean Buck told of the practical dif
ficulties confronting the department
of journalism. He spoke of the grow
ing need for a large university paper
and of the advantages of owning such
a publication. The new courses which
will be offered Boon will include gen
eral subjects such as political science,
English, economics and philosophy.
With these basic studies rounding
out a journalism course. Dean Buck
expressed the desire that Nebraska
would interest college men in the
field of journalism.
