"I gyve onto my wlef my seemid
best bed with the furniture."
We have no desire to fiallt'n ufi.lK'
We have no desire to find fault with
the successful poet and dramatist of
Straford for this apparent discrimina
tion against the Widow Shakespeare.
What disposition ho made of his fifirst
best bed is a matter that Is not re
vealed by the copy of the will of the
versatile author whose last testament
is reported In the columns of our alert
London contemporary. However, wo
don't think Mr. S. showed just the
L. B.
right spirit in gyveing onto his veif
his second best bed. O why did he not
gyve onto her his gist bed, or his
tee potte, or his punche bole with the
gilt butterflyes, or his favorite w igge,
or his safety razor, or fountain peune,
or bycycle anything in fact, but his
second best bed.
No doubt Mr. Shakespeare had gone
to bed with his boots on many a Sat
urday night in that very second rest
bed and yet, hallowed as It was bby
such memories, one cannot feel sueli
that the widow was treated unfairly
Perhaps Will's folks influenced him
As a co-writer we(have only the high
est regard and esteem for him. But
we don't think he acted right about
Shakespeare's will -r .IT ' . '" j
