SHAKESPEARE'S WILL

"I gyve onto my wief my second

We have no desire to fialtfn ufi.lE'
We have no desire to find fault with
the successful poet and dramatist of
St ra ford for this apparent discrimina
tion against the Widow Shakespeare.
What disposition he made of his fi first
best bed is a matter that is not re
vealed by the copy of the will of the
versatile author whose last testament
is reported in the columns of our ilert
London contemporary. However, we
don't think Mr. S. showed just the
right spirit in gyveing onto his .voir
his second best bed. O why did he uoi
gye onto her his grst bed. or his
tee potte. or his punche bole with the
gilt butterflyes. or his favorite wigge.
or his safety razor, or fountain penne,
or bycycle anything in fact, but his
second best bed.
No doubt Mr. Shakespeare had gone
to bed with his boots on many a Sat
urday night in that very second rest
bed and yet, hallowed as it was bby
such memories, one cannot feel such
that the widow was treated unfairly.
Perhaps Will's folks influenced him.
As a co-writer we(have only the high
est regard and esteem for him. But
we don't think he acted right about
friend wief. Thrift Magazine.
