Students Accede to Board's
Demands and Agree Not to
Maintain Secret Societies
The long unsettled question of high
school fraternities in Lincoln school

These agreements take the place of
the action on the part of the board to
conmel the fraternity members to sur
render their charters and pins.- The
articles will be presented to the mem
' bers in duplicate, they to sign both, the
board to hold one and the other to be
given to the student that he may know-
just what he has signed.
Form of Agreement
Following are the three provisions
of the agreement to be signed by tne
fraternity members::
"(1) During all the time I may be
a student in the Lincoln High cshool,
including all hodidays and vacations.
and up to the time I shall have grad
uated or permanently severed my con
nection with the Lincoln High school,
I shall on no a etas ion nor at any time
or place within or without the state
of Nebraska, wear or display any pin,
ring, badge or other insignia of mem
bership in any secret fraternity or
other organization whose existence is
contrary to Nebraska laws.
"(2) I pledge my word and per
sonal honor that I do not have in my
possession nor in my custody, nor in
any custody subject to my control, any
charter of any secret fraternity as de
fined by the laws of Nebraska. I
agree not to take possession of such
charter, or to act under it, or to make
any attempt to regain possession of it
or to act under it at any time or place
during the period mentioned in para
graph one.
"(3) In the matter of organizing
or joining when organized any non
secret club or organization of any kind
composed wholly or In part of Lincoln
High school students I agree to con
sult with my parents in reference
thereto and to submit to the proper
committee of the faculty of the Lin
coln High school a statement clearly
defininfi the objects of the club the
basis of membership and all the facts

Dean O. V. P. Stout has received
two news letters from the front, one
from Ralph P. Queale, electrical '11.
and the other from Chester K. Smith,
civil '07. Both men are lieutenants of
engineers in a railway division "Borne
where in France."
Faculty Red Cross
Women of the teaching or executive
force of the University who wish to
take the Red Cross short course in
home nursing, or the training course
in surgical dressings, may ler.re their

Football Ushers
All football ushers will report at

o'clock Saturday afternoon. Those

Engineering Society
A meeting of the engineering so
ciety will be held in M. E. 206
Wednesday. October 17, at 7:30
o'clock. The meeting will be ad
dressed by Prof. G. E. Barber of
the Roman history department, who
will speak on the subject "Engineer
ing in Ancient Rome." All engi
neers and friends are invited to attend.
