JUNIORS TAKE
CO-ED TRACK MEET
(Continued from Page 1)
the first time. Fine records were made
in both. Helen Hewitt hurled the
javelin 69 feet 11 inches, and Mar
jorie Green leaped 13 feet 8 inches.
The baseball game was the tightest
and best of the entire series. The
seniors deserve much credit for their
plucky fight as it was practically con
ceded that the juniors would win. Ex
cellent pitching and clever fielding
were plentiful on both sides.
Junior Battery Features
The battery work of Blanche Hig
gins and Mildred Chapin was the fea
ture of the game. Both worked like
veterans and many seniors were re
tired on strikes and when put out in
this way there was no attempt made
to reach first on the fumble of the
catcher, because there was no fumble.
Beatrice Dierks and Lola Fussil
were the participants in one of the
freakiest of plays when a fly ball was
knocked in their direction. Both
fielders rushed in toward the ball. Miss
Dierks reaching its first. She reached
up and the ball lit in her hands but
bounced out and back of her. Miss
Fussil, who had stopped behind Miss
Dierks, sprang forward and caught the
ball just before it reached the ground,
completing the put out.
