gulsed in farmer's clothes. After an
exciting race between the two,
"Gotch" finally disposed of "Steelier"
by tieing his hands with a red ban
dana. The varsity gymnastic squad, gave
a spectacular exhibition of advanced
work on the horizontal and parallel
bars and with the flying rings and
tumbling. The work of E. M. Weaver,
'18, on the parallel bars featured this
number.
An extra feature, not included in the
program, was a two-minute wrestling
match between Gutberlet, a member
of last year's varsity wrestling squad,
and Anderson of this year's squad,
which was followed with unusual in
terest. Neither secured a fall.
Clyde Drewing, '17, captain of the
varsity gymnastic team, gave a novel
exhibition of electric club swinging,
combining graceful movements witb
brilliantly colored lights.
A thrilling basketball game, II.
which the Junior team, interclass
champions, defeated the "all stars" 7
to 0, closed the program. Camilla
Koch of the Juniors was the star of
the game. The "all stars," chosen
from the other classes, were handi
caped by lack of teamwork.

FIRE INTERRUPTS
PHI GAM'S DANCE
But Department Arrives and Saves
Bin of Potatoes Dance
Is Resumed
A fire starting in the basement of
the Phi Gamma Delta house Saturday
evening interrupted a house dance
being given by the fraternity. Clouds
of smoke poured up to the floor above
and stopped the couples in the mid
dle of a dance. Spectators say that
the dance was finished to the tune
of excited giggles on the lawn in
front of the bouse.
The fire department found a good
blaze started In some paper scraps
near the coal bin, where it is sup
posed to have begun, but it was
ouldfcly put out. Dancing was re
sumed as soon as the bouse could be
rid of smoke.
The damage was slight, but otilyf
quick action by the department saved
the fraternity from serious loss, for
the blaze was creeping along the
edge of a bin of potatoes and would
soon have roasted them. No ex
planation for the fact that the pota
toes were not put In a vault has
been given.
