MRS. CATHERINE
WILLARD eddy
Y.WJ!. A. GUEST
The University is soon to have a
most interesting visitor. Mrs. Cather
ine Willard Eddy will be the guest of
the Young Women's Christian associa
tion for February 20 and 21. Mrs.
Eddy has been dean of the Baptist
women's bible school at Kansas City
for a number of years, and is this
year doing some special work for the
foreign department of the national
board of the Young Women's Chris
tian association.
Mrs. Eddy is coming to Nebraska
at the time of the Young Women's
Christian association foreign finance
campaign and will no doubt be of as
sistance to the association because of
her own personal experience in mis
sion work and through her connection
with the Sherwood Eddys, who are
so well known through their work in
various mission fields.
Mrs. Eddy is a splendid public
speaker and a charming woman, and
University people are looking forward
with great pleasure to her stay on the
campus.

"Jimmie" Gardner, Hasker Star,
Leaves Nebraska For Cornell
'Jimmie" Gardiner, 'IS. of Omaha,
football and basketball star on Corn
husker teams for the last two years,
left during examination week for
Ithaca, N. Y., to register in the college
of agriculture of Cornell university.
Gardiner came to Nebraska after a
brilliant high school career at Omaha,
and continued his stellar work in the
University. He was one of the most
consistent football men of several
seasons, but his strong fort was bas
ketball, at which he was a guard of
all-valley caliber. Both the football
and basketball squads will suffer from
losing him.
Gardiner's decision to finish his col
lege course at Cornell was a natural
one. His home is in the east and he
intends to go into farming in Mary
land, making a course in agriculture
adapted to eastern conditions especial
ly desirable. He does not intend to
participate in intercollegiate athletics
at Cornell.
Brunswick. Nebr., and will leave this
week to take up her new" work for
the second semester.

Negotiations between Pennsylvania
and Cornell have been completed to
have news transported between the

Wireless club received the score of
the Penn-CorneU basketball game re
cently, and it is expected this will
rave much telegraphing expense. Ex.
