Two commissions to investigate con
ditions in the University concerning
lie religious life of women students
and democracy on the campus have
ben appointed by a Y. W. C A. com
mittee. Melba Quigley, as annual
member of the field committee, is
chairman of the appointing commitfc
on which Florence Wirt. Helen Schwab
and Ethel Hartley are serving.
These commissions of investigation
htve not been -created because of a
feeling that the school was in any lirc
need of a revolution along these lines,
but meerly to get to the bottom of
conditions a they now exist and im
prove them if possible. The mov
mem was started at the last associa
tion girls' meeting the first week in
December.
Questionaires w ill very likely be sub
mitted to one hundred or more girls
who represent different groups on the
campus. The commissions will make
their report from the results obtained,
which will include recommendations
for Y. W. C A. groups and such other
groups as may be interested. The
surjivt of democracy, especially,
might prove of interest to groups on
the campus other than Y. W. C A.

! party given in their honor by the Black
(Masques Saturday afternoon at 'hf
Temple.

given by the following senior grils:

U. A. Trail, civil T)7. died at Omaha
last Saturday. Professor Grant, an old
classmate of his, attended the funeral.
Mr. Trail was assistant engineer of
Lincoln tinder Professor Grant as
chief ; later he was with the U. S. B
S. and Fpent the last few years on
a farm near Nebraska City. He Is
survived by a wife and three children.
R. D. Hubbard, '00, who is an office
engineer in the Ft Laramie tinit of
the North Platte project, visited the
engineering headquarters Saturday.
OrvQle Chatt, T6, is seriously ill
with typhoid fever at Taylor, Neb. Mr.
Chatt was elected county attorney of
Lotrp county after a short residence
there, his borne being in Enid. Okla.
