TRADITIONS UNIVERSITY WEEK One of Nebraska's youngest tradi tions, but one which bids fair to be come among the most permanent is University Week. During the week of spring vacation university programs designed to show lo the state, university student life and what it accomplishes, are arranged in various high schools of the state. Among the numbers given in the past have been concerts by the University Cadet Band, and by the Glee Club, plays by the Dramatic Club, and the German Dramatic Club, debates by the University debating teams and illustrated lectures by Professors Condra and Persinger. The ticket sale and entertainmeent of the univer sity troups is usually in the hands of the high school visited. The idea of University Week came to Nebraska from Minnesota and Wisconsin, where extensive university lyceum programs are organized. The first week at Nebraska was in the spring of 1915, when Seward, Osceola and David City were visited. The first manager of the Week was Homer G. Hewitt, Law '17. Last spring with D. T. Lane, Law '16, as manager, five cities, Seward, David City, North Bend, Schuyler and Fremont were on the circuit. The programs both years were highly suc cessul both financially and otherwise. The manager for next year is It. J. Saunders, '16, and plans are already under way to make next year's pro gram the best ever. University Week is an opportunity for both university and high school. It is one of the products of the modern tendency, felt especially in the west, to bring the University in the closest possible contact with the people. It shows student life as it really is and what it really accomplishes. The high pchool students in the cities visited get an opportunity to learn what students orA nctimllv doing at the University end are- influenced to attend the Uni versity themselves. University Week desrves the active co-operation of all University students and of all high school teachers of the state. For Nice Work" go to the OLIVER THEATRE BARBER SHOP F. B.
