YESTERDAY'S ELECTION Yesterday's Election is indeed grat ifying to those interested in the Stu dent Council. While the number vot ing is not all that could be hoped for, it Is of sufficient size to indi cate a keen interest in this important issue. ' As said before, everything was against securing the proper vote. It was a holiday, only the usual small Thursday classes being in attendance on the campus.. There were several examinations in progress. There are many to come next week, and the students as a whole are winding up the semester's work. The question was in the most unattractive form, since it settled nothing definitely. The election was held in the regis trar's office, which was closed for a part of the day. No active candidates in the field robbed the election of its usual human Interest. Under these circumstances, no one can fail to Interpret the vote cast as indicating an affirmative desire on the Dart of the students for a Student Council. Such Indication having been iven, a council for next year is as sured. Patience must be Bhown, as the constitutional convention must be selected and given time to report be fore the council can be elected. But the students should not count such time as lost, when the institution is as important as it is. On the whole, therefore, it must be said that the students of the unlver sity of Nebraska want both the Stu dent Council and the Single Tax. NOT OUR SWAN SONG We have begun many policies dur ing the semester which must, of course, be disposed of before we reach the end. The decision of the staff to publish an issue next week' gives us more time on these points. In next week s special Issue, there fore, we will tell the students Just what we have accomplished along the various lines of endeavor during the semester. E. M. Cramb.
