ALPHA XI DELTA BANQUET i The fifth annual banquet of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority was held Sat urday evening at the Lincoln hotel. A large basket of Alpha XI Delta roses formed the centerpleco around which smllax was banked. Small baskots of roses marked each Individual place. The menu cards were found in favors, which consisted of gold cloth vanity cases. The toastmlstress was Christine Cluussen ami the responses were as follows: "Our Quill," Mpna Lacy Swaynie; "Unity," Esther Smith; "Itho's Rose," Caryl Spaulding; "Quest of a Freshman," Helen Loft man; "Under the Double Blue and Gold," Clara Staads; "Initiation," Ver na Hutchinson; "Loyalty," Grace Rob inson; "Long Live Alpha Xi Delta," Eva McNamara. Letters and telegrams were read from alumnae'members who could not be present. Sorority songs were sung, and the following engagements were announced: Helen Pierce of Harlan, la., to Don Robert Stuart; Ruth Carroll to Earl J. Neeley, of Gerlng, Nebr. But, Dr. Harrison declared, if the Arabians are dirty and poor and Ig norant, one has to go far to find more hospitable people. An Arab will share his last with you. He related several funny Incidents where, while guest of the natives, ho had to con form to local customs and simply gorge' himself on rice or coffee. If he had refused to, it would have been considered a reflection on their food. Dr. Harrison is a member of the class of '05, and this visit to his old alma mater is a great pleasure to him. Dean R. Leland "in speaking of Dr. Harrison described him as the great est hero that ever left Nebraska. He enjoys the unique distinction of be ing the only Christian to receive a definite invitation from the Ameer to visit NedJ. Dr. Harrison is looking forward to further penetration of Arabia and to the establishment of an up-to-date hospital well inland. i The "Charley Chaplin Club" held its first and only meeting last night. The organization of the club and its consequent publicity was due to a de orl hv the Dramatic club upon the twelve new members who were recently voted into tne organi zation, compelling them to put on an .irtr.oi dfnnt ns a form of initiation. Impromptu and entirely unintentional !
