TO PICK GRAPPLERS TO MEET AMES Matches between members of the varsity wrestling squad will determine the team to meet Ames next Satur day. There Is keen competition In the different weights, and the team against up Ames will be up to Corn- husker standards. Brian won a fall from Scheibel yes terday afternoon in the Armory. The match was in the 125-pound class, but SPRING FEVER SEIZES CADET A well developed case of spring fever was discovered on the campus yesterday, when a student was found fast asleep on a wooden bench In the cadets' locker rooms. Who he was, no one seemed to know, but from the gentle murmuring of his sleep one judged at once he was at peace with the world. The question was raised whether or not he was miss ing classes. After an hour and a half's good rest he awoke, 'rubbed his eyes and grinning sheepishly walked out the door. The College World CALLS NEWSPAPER MAN TRUE PUBLIC SERVANT "We are all patriots in America, but the right kind of newspaper man is an active patriot all the time. The newspaper man is a public servant in the true sense of the word. Unless he is a public servant he is not a goodnewspaper man he does not perform fully his mission and his duty." In these words Henry C. Campbell, editor of the Milwaukee Journal, de scribed the part of a newspaper man in making "The Newspaper a Public Servant" in an address before the stu dents in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin recently. "To young men and women Just entering the newspaper profession, I can give no more valuable advice than to take their work seriously but not to take themselves too seri ously. Of all the things that have ' marred the careers of newspaper men, I should place first a sort of cynicism, skepticism, supercilious ness. The newspaper man who can not put himself in sympathy with any good movement is a failure. A re: porter must work with his heart as well as his mind. DAILY NEB B A 8 RTS Brian was overweight seven pounds. This added weight, with a better knowledge of the game, enabled Brian to win the fall In two minutes. If Brian can take off the eayiees weight he will be entered against Ames Sat urday In the bantamweight division. This evening in the Armory, Vose and Gutberlet will wrestle for one fall in the 145-pound class. Both Gutberlet and Vose are shifty men who know the game, and the match will be worth seeing. The winner of this match will probably be sent against the Ames Aggies. . The meet with Iowa last Saturday showed up the real strength of the varsity, in spite of Bome unpopular decisions on points, and the Cornhusk ers will provide plenty of argument for the farmers. The elimination matches held this week will decide who will make the trip. CALL ISUUED FOR OUTDOOR TRACK Distance and Hurdle Needed Men Are The firstcall for track has been Is sued. It is what he gives to the newspaper that makes the position worth whilef for him. In those things that pertain to the community, there is no man in the community who can render more effective and in telligent service than the newspaper man. He should be an active and militant citizen. People make up their minds from what he writes and the newspaper publishes; it is the great trust the community reposes in him and in which he must not fall." FOLLOWING COPY It'8 a difficult matter to decide which is better that is to say, which is least exasperating a printer who follows copy, out of the window if ne cessary, regardless of the sense, or a printer who, in his zeal to find and correct flaws, in your copy, makes you say things you hand't the remotest notion of saying.
