V TTOWTTA' I V I f i t r 1 f 1 rlW i VRESLING SCHEDULE HEAVY THIS YEAR Meets with Iowa, Ames, Doane, Wes- leyan and Western Intercollegiate Tho Nebraska wrestling team is to have a heavy schedule, as announced by Captain Otoupallk. Doano and Wcsleyan will furnish the opening contests, with Iowa, Ames, and the Mlddlo Western Intercollegiate tour nament at Minneapolis to follow. Tho Husker mat artists, sixty strong, are working hard for places ou tho team. Many of tho letter men from last year aro being hard pushed for places, and Nebraska is assured of a good representation. Dual meets with Dono and Wesley an will be staged in the near future From theBe meets and the work of the squad, the team to meet Iowa will be picked. The formidable Hawk- eyes are preparing to wipe the earth with the CornhuBkers March 11, when the teams meet in the Armory. This meet has been scheduled as an addi tional attraction during the last day of the state high school basketball tournament. The following Saturday, March 18, the team win meet Ames at Ames. Reports from Ames are that a large squad is out working for a victory over Nebraska. March 25, at Minne apolis, is held the Middle Western Intercollegiate Gymnastic and Wres tling tournament. Last winter this meet was held at Lincoln, and all the big schools of the middle west par tlclpated. The announcement of the Oregon Aggie game has been pleasant news for the Comhusker letter men of this year and a large crop of would-be letter men. Just when all the foot ball men were planning their good times, Guy Reed, our amiable manager, says that only eighteen will be taken. That is, only eighteen will be paid for we refuse to predict how many will be taken! With the Oregon game third on the 1916 schedule, there ought to be some fine competition among the rank and file for those eighteen places. Just to a casual observer, It seems that the game with the Oregon Ag gies, secured largely through the in fluence of Dr. Stewart, our new coach, is an indication of the high esteem jn which he Is held by the western school. The Oregon Aggie Nobranks game will be Inter-sectional and give the teams of the east and mlddlo weBt a good basis for comparing the foot ball of the east and weBt. The University of Wisconsin has student who is a relative of two of the famous German generals In the present war. His uncles are General von Lochow, commandor of tho Gar man forces In Serbia, and General von Seydewltf, who is directing large campaign against the Russians. He also has a brother who Is a colonel In a regiment composed entirely of members of the nobility. His name is Helmuth Mathoe. In giving an account of the Gorman fra ternities he says that one of the r. Qulrements of membership is skill as a fencer. One must disable an oppo nent before he can be initiated. What a contrast to the American system, where the disabling is all the other way.
