WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1915
We have but a short time this semester to urge that something
definite be done in regard to the question of credit, in one form or
another, for reporters. In the past and at present the reporters
receive little or nothing for their services and consequently they do
not feel inspired to do more than they receive credit for. The
editorial staff has no means of compelling members of the repor
torial staff to hand in stories because they get nothing more than
"glory" and a copy of the Nebraskan for their services. If arrange
ments are made to give reporters University hours for their work,
and a member of the faculty given supervision over them there can
be no doubt but what the Nebraskan would take on the aspect of a
real publication. As things are at present we must take the blame,
let alone credit, for a publication which is working under a severe
handicap. Our plea is not for the staff of this semester but for the
future workers, for the good of the cause, and for the future good
of the Nebraskan. ;
An exchange says, "Some men can wear a mustache and look
respectable. Generally they have passed the forty mark. Others
well we leave it to your own judgment." Quite a responsibility.
