According to a letter from Chicago, another Nebraska Alumni
Association has been formed. As such organizations continue to be
organized and as they develop in power the University of Nebraska
will have an enviable prestige over the entire country.
It seems now that DeFord and his cohorts may have an early
opportunity to become acquainted with the home folks.
It is not often that "Jack" Best dictates stories for the papers
but his letter of appreciation in today's columns will appeal to those
who are acquainted with the old trainer. We have learned nothing
new in regard to a pension for this kind old man through the courtesy
of his early proteges".

Regents. The professor says : "I deeply regret that I did not look
up my sources before writing," and "apologize for my carelessness."

To the Editor:
Why must we be continually bored
by the DeFord affair? Persistent at
tempts on the part of a few con
scientious individuals who have dis
played a marked amount of misguided
enthusiasm, have finally succeeded in
showing it in a bad, and correspond
ingly distorted, light throughout the
state.
Generally, student sentiment is
neither for or against DeFord. It was
merely the caprice of a 16-year-old
lad, and if student opinion is left to be
the judge it will consider the affair as
very inconsequential indeed.

Dear Sir:
We thought your readers might be
interested to know that another Ne
braska Alumni Association has come
Into existence. Thursday eveneing a
crowd of enthusiastic Nebraskans met
here at the Gladstone Hotel for an
informal dinner and celebration of our
glorious football season. We had
hoped for a meeting on the night of
the Cornhusker banquet but were
obliged to have ours a day early. How
ever, this did not dampen in the least
the spirit of '.he occasion and the many
references to Coach Stiehm, the team
and Dr. Maxey, brought forth great
applause.
At the close of the meeting plans
were made for a permanent organiza
tion to be known as the Nebraska
Alumni Association of Chicago. Otto
Sinkie, well remembered as Ivy Day
orator of his class, was elected presi
dent. We hope that our numbers and in
fluence may so increase that we shall
be of real benefit to the Nebraska
which we all love.

I was very glad to see so many out
at the Cornhusker Banquet and the
spirit they show toward athletics. I
do greatly regret losing our good
players, but I hope we will have as
good team next year and I cannot see
any reason why we should not, if we
have as many as we did this year;
there were nearly a hundred vent out
every night to practice football and
that is Just where we get good ma
terial to pick from. I was also very
pleased to see some of our old players
back with us again, helping us all they
could.
We have good men that come from
high school and after Coach Stiehm
puts the polish on them, they are
ready and capable of playing any team.
I don't care what team. I hope all
Phi Alpha Tau fraternity will give
a banquet in honor of the visiting
Kansas debating team following the
debate between Kansas and Nebraska
Friday evening. Governor John H.
Morehead and Mayor C. W. Bryan will
give addresses.
Ensign Thomas John Doyle, jr., of
the United States navy, battleship
Georgia, arrived home yesterday for a
three weeks' stay. Ensign James Earl
Boak, Phi Gamma Delta from Dart
mouth, accompanied him. Mr. Doyle
attended the State University six years
ago and was a member of the Phi
Delta Theta fraternity.
At a meeting of University Agricul
tural Engineers, held in Mechanic Arts'
Hall Tuesday evening, Prof. H. C. Fil
ley of the Farm Management Depart
ment gave a talk on the relation of
farm machinery to the, size of the
farm. He displayed several charts
showing that the machinery cost per
acre decreases with the increase in
the acreage. These charts, he said,
were compiled from statistics gathered
In representative areas of the country,
particularly Nebraska.
Announcement is made of the ap
proaching marriage of Chester H.
Aldrich, jr., of Lincoln, to Miss Evalyn
Robs, of Alliance, which will take
place Wednesday at the bride's home.
Immediately after the wedding, the
young couple will come to Lincoln to
reside. Miss Ross has attended the
University and has made a special
stndy of music. Mr. Aldrich is the
son of ex-Governor and Mrs. Aldrich.
He graduated from the Law College
last spring. He is a member of Delta
Tau Delta fraternity.
