A Fifth Valley Championship
Only the game with the Kansas Jay-
hawkers, November 13, lies between
the Huskers and their fifth consecu
tive championship of the Missouri
Valley. The Jayhawkers, tutored by
Cnauncey "Beau" Alcott, former Yale
star, were defeated by the Oklahoma
Sooners Saturday, 23-14, ina game
featured by open play. The Sooners
had little in attack besides the for
ward pass, but evidenced a stiff de
fense. Kansas, reports declare, com
mitted the fatal error of trying to
beat the Sooner at their own game,
and when the second half started, with
the score tied at 7-7, sent three sec
ond string men in because they were
efficient at hurling and receiving
passes. Too late the regulars were
sent in, and although one touchdown
was added to the Kansas total, the
Sooners had in the meantime scored
16 points and won the game.
