After me w corps of street cleaners bad been ar rayed in uniforms of white, the effi ciency of that department was doubled. Men took pride in their work, there was somethii distinctive tn tber position, and results were highly com mendable. Reasoning along this same line, we can see success in the universal use e-roon mn for Freshmen. While UL mo e r the illustration may seem somewhat out of place, still we can see -where the same principle can be applied. By the use of a common neaa jmm phernalia, Freshmen are placed in a distinctive class. It promotes a bond of friendship among themselves which augurs well for the future accom plishments of the class. Freshmen as a whole are strangers to the entire University. They come for the first time from all parts of the country and some such device is needed to offer an easy access for acquaintances. The good in the practice and bene ficial results therefrom are plain to the uppcr-clasman who has watched Oncoiv the nrocess for several years, but in many Instances it is difficult! to give the suspicious Freshman the j proper point of view. r I Consistency, tbu art a glittering j soapstone. With flattering smnes, well polished manners, oiled tongues and creased palms, fraternities en courage the unsuspecting Freshie into the belief that the world is a golden , dream and that he, with a majestic scepter, reings supreme on a royal, throne. What is effected in a few short days, it takes a whole year to remedy with the club, the gun and the sword.' These are the days when you want to bask in the sunshine; loiter on the way home; talk to someone who has really nothing to say; laugh when there is nothing to laugh, at for tomorrow will be different. With the commencement of regular classes, life takes on a new tspect and our little unproductive habits must be squelched. A pert hat cocked at an angle; a striking suit; hair done with the latest precision; searching eyes that hesi tate; and in fact, in the words of the rough, "She was all dolled up." Yes, she is a rushee. Printing that's better, at Boyd's, 125 North 12th. UNIVERSITY NOTICES hooks may be secured for the asking at the Qnforamtion desk in the Temple.
